WA State Aug 4 Primaries low blue county turnout

WA State Primary Results:  Disturbing turnout.   Turnout in today’s primary elections was dramatically higher by percentage in red counties than blue.  WA is a spit red/blue state.  We’re blue where the people are and red where the land is.  Statewide the red hats will still be overwhelmed by the metro counties but it’s not a good sign that Republicans were very activated to vote.  Conversely it’s not good that the turnout was only in the mid 20% range in the more populated counties.  Remember that we are an all mail in state and that there was no obstacle to voting.

Former presidential candidate Jay Inslee handly won the Democratic primary and doubled the vote of the winner on the Republican side.   House Representative Denny Heck who is running for the position of Lt. Governor easily won his Democratic primary setting himself up as the Democratic candidate for Governor in 2024 or Inslee, who would enter his 4th term, has been mentioned for a cabinet post and might resign putting also putting Heck as first in line for a special governorship election.

If you didn’t receive a ballot for the Aug 4 primary it’s imperative that you register or re-register.  Have you moved?  Did you change your name?  Was a ballot sent to you but you failed to receive it?  Or are you just not registered?  Each county has a election office usually at the court house.  I believe most libraries also have registration forms.  You can register in person right and vote right up until 8 PM on Nov 4.

Voting is not just a right but a responsibility
